RANDOMNESS

Credit Me Silly

Without getting too much into my personal financial situation I came across a book that my besty, Julie from Seven Dollar Pants lent me last year. It’s called “Save Karyn”. She said, “You gotta read it”, and I did. As a matter of fact I couldn’t put it down. In Save Karyn: One Shopaholic’s Journey to Debt and Back, Karyn details the bumpy road her financial—and personal—life has traveled to get her where she is today: happy, grateful, and completely debt-free. In this charming cautionary tale, Karyn chronicles her glamorous rise, her embarrassing fall, and how the kindness of strangers in cyberia really can make a difference.
It’s pretty pathetic when I actually thought I was reading about myself. YIKES!!!!!!! I relate to absolutely everything she did. Justifying purchases, rewarding myself, retail therapy, an outfit for an audition and the list goes on and on and ON.  I prefer to call my debt, “Life Debt”. Here is an excerpt from her book:
Drowning in $20,000 of credit card debt, shopaholic Karyn Bosnak asked strangers for money online — and it worked!

What would you do if you owed $20,000? Would you:

A) not tell your parents?

B) start your own website that asked for money without apology? or

C) stop coloring your hair, getting pedicures, and buying Gucci?

If you were Karyn Bosnak, you’d do all three.

Karyn received e-mails from people all over the world, either confessing their own debt-ridden lives, or criticizing hers. But after four months of Internet panhandling and selling her prized possessions on eBay, her debt was gone!

You’re probably jealous that you didn’t think of it first.

Yes Karyn, I am very jealous that I didn’t think of it first.

I also did a bit of wallet cleaning and couldn’t believe how cards in them. I don’t use credit cards anymore….They are the devil. But I did count 25 cards in my wallet. Whether it be a debit card, gift card, grocery card or Union card. I minimized them and kept the important ones in the ol wallet. – Sigh. – Christina xo

CHERISHED QUOTES

Gilda Radner is Super Rad.

When I first started watching Saturday Night Live I immediately fell in love with Gilda Radner. I have re-watched her sketches, read her various biographies and stories, and continue to raise a glass to her extraordinary comedic abilities, charm, and stage presence. Gilda is forever my all time favorite funny gal. To me, she is the epitome of what a female comedienne is all about.  A few of my favorite quotes from the one and only, Gilda Radner.

I’d much rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, they can wear cute clothes, and they’re the first to be rescued off sinking ships.

“I base my fashion taste on what doesn’t itch”.

Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen”.
